Affectionately known by the locals as Winking Woman, Fire Island Light, built in 1858, stands within Fire Island National Seashore. With its 167-foot brick tower, it was the first light seen by arriving ships into New York Harbor and was a key element in final navigation. Overall lamp height is 24".
